LAM Car Rental Services – Rental Policy

🔑 1. Rental Eligibility

  • Age Requirement: Minimum age to rent is 21. Renters under 25 may be subject to a young driver surcharge.
     
  • Driver’s License: Must be valid, government-issued, and active for at least one year. International licenses are accepted with a valid passport.
     
  • Payment Requirements: A credit or debit card is required to secure the rental. Prepaid cards are not accepted for security deposits.
     
  • Insurance: Proof of personal auto insurance is required. If you don’t have insurance, LAM offers temporary coverage options for an additional fee.
     

🚙 2. Vehicle Pickup and Return

  • Pickup Time: Vehicle will be ready at the scheduled time. ID and card verification required.
     
  • Return Time: Late returns beyond the grace period (1 hour) incur hourly fees. Four or more hours late = an extra day charge.
     
  • Early Returns: No refunds are provided for early vehicle returns.
     
  • Return Condition: Vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received—clean, undamaged, and with the same fuel level.
     

🧼 3. Cleaning Policy

Vehicles must be returned clean and free of the following:

  • Trash, food wrappers, drink spills
     
  • Pet hair
     
  • Stains, strong odors (especially from smoke or cannabis)
     

Fees:

  • Standard Cleaning: $25 (light vacuuming, wipe down)
     
  • Excessive Dirtiness: $75–$150
     
  • Smoking Fee: $200 (applies to tobacco, cannabis, vapes)
     
  • Pet Hair/Allergen Cleaning: $150
     

Tip: A cleaning checklist is provided at pickup. Ask for protective covers if traveling with kids or pets.

⛽ 4. Fuel Policy

  • Same-to-Same: Return with the same fuel level as received.
     
  • Refueling Fee: If underfilled, a fee of $5 per gallon + cost of fuel will be applied.
     
  • Electric Vehicles (if applicable): Must be returned with at least 80% charge. Charging fee: $35 flat rate if undercharged.
     

💥 5. Damage & Accident Policy

In the event of damage or an accident:

  • Emergency: Call 911 first if necessary, then contact LAM at our 24/7 number immediately.
     
  • Documentation: Photos, written description, and a police report (if applicable) are required.
     
  • Insurance Coverage: Your insurance or ours (if purchased) will be used first. Renter is responsible for all costs not covered.
     
  • Deductibles: If using LAM’s coverage, a $1,000 deductible applies for damage or theft.
     
  • Flat Tires, Lockouts, Dead Battery: Included under complimentary roadside assistance.
     

Negligence Fees:

  • Driving under the influence: Full cost of damage
     
  • Unauthorized driver or out-of-state travel without notice: $300 fine + any damage fees
     
  • Driving off-road or in prohibited areas (construction sites, beaches, etc.): $500 fine + damage cost
     

🧾 6. Deposits & Charges

  • Security Deposit: Ranges from $200–$500, depending on vehicle class.
     
  • Refund Timeline: Returned within 3–5 business days after a successful inspection.
     
  • Extra Mileage: $0.35/mile beyond the daily limit.
     
  • Tolls & Tickets: Renter is responsible. Administrative fee: $20 per unpaid citation or toll.
     

🚫 7. Prohibited Uses

Use of a LAM vehicle is strictly prohibited for:

  • Racing or stunt driving
     
  • Ride-sharing, delivery services (Uber, Door Dash, etc.) unless approved
     
  • Transporting illegal items or substances
     
  • Towing, unless the vehicle is designated and equipped for such
     

🔄 8. Modifications & Cancellations

  • Modify Booking: Up to 24 hours before pickup
     
  • Cancellation Refunds:
     
    • 48+ hrs. notice: Full refund
       
    • 24–48 hrs.: 50% refund
       
    • Less than 24 hrs. or no-show: No refund
       

🤝 9. Customer Responsibilities

  • Inspect the vehicle at pickup and report existing damage
     
  • Obey all traffic laws
     
  • Ensure all drivers are authorized and listed
     
  • Return the vehicle on time and in clean condition
